terrible

i've lived in some bad places, but greystone park takes the cake. here's just a few of the many reasons why: we were told we would have new carpet upon move-in, only to find out the apartment had ancient blue shag that was stained, burnt, and even bald in places. the very first night our fridge stopped working and we lost our whole week's worth of groceries, then they waited so long to get it fixed we ended up having to supply our OWN fridge. it didn't take long to find out only 3 electrical outlits in the apartment worked. the rest were so loose the plugs would fall right out. EVERY phone line in the apartment but one had been cut, so had the cable line for television, and when asked why, the apartment manager didn't hesitate to say "not my problem". when we moved in our bathroom mirror had a giant crack right through the middle, which we reported but never got fixed. we had toilet and plumbing issues from day one. the buildings are run-down. the walls all through the apartment have clearly had very large holes in them, which have been patched only with buldging putty, and never retextured. the windows are plastic, you can push on them and pop them right out of their tracks and break in, not to mention they don't hold in any heat or air conditioning. the half inch gap under the front door doesn't help with the heating bill either. of course this is all WHEN the AC/heater worked. now... the roaches. there were roaches year-round, from day one. they came out of drains, out of outlets, and every crach and crevice you can think of. not one or two, but upwards of 15, every time you came home from being out. the apartment managers post a note on your door every three months or so basically telling you to pack up all of your stuff like you're moving our so they can spray for the roaches. at the end of these notes is the nice threat a 5-day eviction notice if you don't do it in time. they don't even use a pest control service. they use one of the maintenance men with a generic bug-spray that doesn't even seem to BOTHER the roaches. They then say it's the tenants not keeping our apartment clean enough. well i've been in my new place for almost 6 months, and i've only ever seen 1 roach, and it was crawling out of one of the boxes i brought over from greystone park. never had roaches in the apartment before living in greystone, either. then to top it all off, there's the occasional gunshots at night, and there's the drug addicts and prostitutes, who will blatantly knock on your door at 2am asking for a cigarette or to use the telephone. no thank you. price is NO excuse. my new apartment is pretty much the same price, and is like living in the freaking Ritz compared to greystone park. i wouldn't wish that small patch of hell on my worst enemy.
