Apartment Review
Renter Beware
Review Date: 10/9/2008

I am a former resident of this place, and let me tell you... for the cosumer, 'Renter Beware', my experience in that place was anything less than 'pleasant'. The management was anything but friendly once I moved in, and the overall attitude anytime I went to management was nerve-wrecking. I was made to feel as if I were a pest, rather than a paying customer! The walk through went fine, but once I got into the apartment that's when the trouble began. I noticed almost at once that there was 'black mold' growing in one of the toilet fixtures, not to mention a rampant bug problem, the refrigerator died and was replaced by another refrigerator that in 1 month time was on it's last legs. When, my roommate complained about the mold we were told at point blank range that it wasn't mold, but rather it was 'dirt'!!!?? Dirt does grow naturally inside a toilet bowl!! it mildews up if you don't clean it, but honestly we're clean people. The very first week we were there, our apartment sprung a leak, it took 4 days for management to send a team out to fix it, and even then the nightmare wasn't over. For 4 days our apartment flooded, due to a leak next door, we were forced to walk on carpet throughout the place that was almost completely soaked in water. When at last, they came to fix it, all they did was air-vac the carpet, leaving high pressured fans on our floors for yet another 3 days. By then our carpet was soaked through, and then another waiting game until they cut out the old carpet and padding and replaced it. Our water from the faucet started to taste funny, we were concerned with the mold being in the faucets. We repeatedly asked for mold tests, which were never conducted. The lease they have you sign, basically says that "mold is a natural occurence on certain fixtures", it goes on to say that any mold you find in the apartment is due to the fact that you aren't cleaning properly!! We were told that the management staff did not have a key to our apartment and that we needed to hand over one of our keys so that they could make a copy... What kind of apartment complex doesn't keep a set of duplicate keys to their apartments? Furthermore, anytime an inspection was done, the notice on the door would say that if 'their' key did not work, that they would simply drill a hole in our lock, and that it would be at OUR expense!!! My advice to the consumer is, that if you are shopping around for an apartment, to do a very thorough inspection of the place, after all you are going to be calling this place home. Also, you might want to read some consumer-reviews and ratings on the apartment first, and find out what past or present tenants are saying about it.
